World Animal Week: Help WSPA make animal welfare a ‘Piece of Cake!’

WSPA’s theme for this year’s World Animal Week, taking place from 4–10 October, is responsible pet ownership around the world.
There are around 500 million stray and unwanted dogs in the world and a similar number of stray and unwanted cats. Sadly, most live a miserable existence.
Death from disease is never far away; many are also killed by cruel methods of stray control such as electrocution and poisoning.
Although the situation sounds very bleak, with your support we can make a difference.
To help WSPA achieve a world where animal welfare matters, and animal cruelty ends, please join hundreds of others round the world and hold an ‘It’s A Piece of Cake!’ event.
This is a chance to raise money for WSPA by baking cakes used themed recipes from countries where WSPA works such as Costa Rica or Sri Lanka and selling them to your community. Baking cakes in the UK can help people’s pets around the world from pain and suffering.
The funds raised from WAW will be used to fund mobile veterinary clinics in a number of countries that can not afford any aid for their animals themselves. In Costa Rica for example it costs just £25 an hour to run the mobile veterinary clinic and education project for local people and their beloved pets.
In one hour our veterinary mobile clinics could minimize animal suffering by:
Vaccinating 100 dogs and cats can be against rabies
Spaying 10 dogs or cats to prevent unwanted puppies and kittens
Neutering 15 dogs or cats to prevent unwanted puppies and kittens
Educating 100 people, just by walking past the specially painted murals that show why caring for and sterilizing animals is important in their community.
If you want to get involved and hold your own event, we can send you posters, collection boxes, or fridge magnets.
We can also work with you drum up some local publicity about your ‘It’s A Piece of Cake!’ themed event.
